Exquisite caftan gown with organic nouveau-inspired beadwork. This caftan is the impeccable offspring of Thea Porter and Jean Muir, resulting in a truly exquisite piece. Monochromatic shades of white and grey iridescent seed beads adorn the rayon crepe jersey to create other-worldly jellyfish motifs. The Art Nouveau inspired beadwork and romantic silhouette reminds us of many fashion visionaries including Alexander McQueen. Decorative and functional covered buttons down the front of the gown along with thin pintucks on the bodice to taper the top.  Three dramatic ties down the billowing sleeves create peek-a-boo arms. Unlabelled but clearly done by a great deaigner. Unlined and slightly sheer. Utterly majestic. Some hard-to-see repairs and in very good vintage condition.
